I’m thankful for the cross He Bore;
I’m thankful for the thorns He wore.
I’m thankful His blood stained that old tree.
The look of pity on His face,
A love for all the human race.
I’m thankful His love included me

I taught the Sunday School in the brand new Peace Assembly of God. What a chance to insert the DNA of missions right into the beginning days! I talked about the Great Commission and the new church’s chance to participate in God’s “Family Business” of getting the good news to all the peoples of the world. It was really inspiring to me, and I hope my listeners too.
I’m feeling happy about the relationships I have made in ministry. We have worked together happily with fellow ministers here in this missions setting, sometimes with conflicts, but the conflicts are resolved in godly ways. I guess the overall impression I am getting is that prayer is so necessary for success in ministry, prayer that emphasizes a dependence that is upon God’s Holy Spirit and power. I am awed by the receptiveness of the people here, and when I board a plane for the U.S. in a couple of days, I am going to miss all their kindness and hunger for the things of God.

The Lord has surely blessed the efforts in Mindanao. Three hundred and twenty-two people prayed the sinner’s prayer with us and have been followed up on. God is so good. His love includes these people in his plan. We who have labored and preached and prayed share in this harvest. What time is it? It is always “harvest time.” We are holding a revival in the church we are helping to plant to encourage them and the new converts who attend. Personal attention has been given to them with Light for the Lost literature and visitation in the homes. It really is incredible the amount of attention paid to the new Christians. Bible studies have been set up for them throughout the barangay (community unit) that the new pastor and his church are following up on. We have relaxed somewhat from our labors, although we are still holding the revival at night. Tomorrow is a food and fellowship time with the new church, and Sunday, day after tomorrow (Philippino dating) will be Sunday services. People are still enjoying my singing and renditions of “Crazy for Love,” a song God gave many years ago to express my enjoyment of his love. I shared yesterday morning with the assembled evangelists about discipling the remaining unreached people groups throughout the world. We are to teach the commands of Jesus, but have we ever memorized all the commands of Jesus for ourselves? I challenged everyone to memorize in order to practice all these commands. We have had a great time, and are saddened that I have to return to the U.S. in just a few days.

The memories of other mission experiences are coming to me as I write this, but I can’t say I’ve enjoyed other times as much as this one. The presence of God has been so real. The anointing upon the preaching, the worship, the witnessing times, the follow up has been exceptional. There has been as lot of staff prayer go into this, and I feel like my prayer partners have helped a lot. Here we awaken at 4:45 a.m. to pray and are on the road at 7:15 a.m. The services at night are just exceptional. I preached last night with apostolic authority and God gave a good harvest of souls.

Beth, in her new role as President of William Carey International University helped conduct a graduation for three Ph.D. students. I will enclose a few photographs of her and others if I figure out the technology of putting photos onto the website. :)

I preached this week in the cities of Industry, La Habra, and two places in Whittier, CA. Forty four people prayed the prayer to receive Jesus into their lives. The audiences had people from Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico. We can be a witness wherever we are. All glory goes to God. Tomorrow I speak in New Life Assembly of God, Pasadena, CA, my home church.
